Marshal’s Office

The Hugo Marshal’s Office is responsible for protecting the lives, property, and businesses of both Hugo residents and visitors.  The Hugo Marshal’s Office responds to calls for police service, enforces state and local laws or ordinances, conducts preventative patrol activities, performs criminal investigations, promotes traffic safety, and apprehends criminal and traffic offenders.

The vision of the Hugo Marshal’s Office is to be recognized as the standard of excellence in law enforcement. It is our belief that Strong Character, Professionalism, and Respect are the cornerstones for excellence. We will accomplish this by personnel development, collaborative partnerships, and by providing proactive police service to our community.

The Hugo Marshal’s Office has 4 full-time positions: one chief, one patrol supervisor, two patrol officers, one part-time patrol officer, and a part-time code enforcement officer.

Police Records

The records bureau maintains reports on all accidents and arrests; accepts fees and releases vehicles; and assists citizens in matters pertaining to police records.

Code Enforcement

Code enforcement is staffed by a part-time Code Enforcement Officer. Their duties include enforcing the Town of Hugo municipal code, primarily weeds, rubbish, trash, and junk vehicles, zoning, and other municipal codes as assigned.
